KORBO TAKES A NEW STEP TOGETHER WITH SWEDEN’S TOP DESIGNERS

Korbo was founded with a passion for craftsmanship. The tradition and the unique craftsmanship behind the old wire basket were about to die out when Korbo restarted the production in 2006. During the years, new baskets have been developed and the Korbo basket has become a true classic.

Korbo has now taken a new step in their product and brand development. The recognition and curiosity from a craftsmanship that has lasted for more than 100 years sparked ideas for the future. With the aim of building on the heritage of the basket Korbo have initiated several projects with some of Sweden’s foremost designers to create a new line of products. Now, Korbo announces their first collaboration with the Swedish design studio Broberg & Ridderstråle.

Together with Broberg & Ridderstråle, Korbo has developed Fire-works, a series of products for the fireplace. First out is a set of fire tools in cast iron, that easily finds its place around any fireplace.

“Korbo has a long tradition of craftsmanship where enduring design and functionality has proven to be a successful combination. These fundamentals together with the use of traditional handcrafted techniques have been important aspects in the development of our new products. Korbo is all about creating products that are used in everyday life, that will last for generations and creates stories and beauty over time.” says Katrin Persson, MD of Korbo.

The collaboration with Broberg & Ridderstråle was based on a design brief with the aim of creating products with a strong and long-lasting aesthetics. Products that outlast trends and creates a feeling of joy when they are used. The result is a line of products for the fireplace.

FIRE-WORKS BY BROBERG & RIDDERSTRÅLE

Fire-works is a series of products connected to fire in the home. From the ambience of a lit candle to a warm cozy fireplace. First out is a set of fire tools in cast iron, that easily finds its place around any fireplace. The fire tool set consists of a shovel, poker and a brush made of oak and horsehair.

“The idea behind the design was to create a compact set of fire tools consisting of the most essential parts without compromising with functionality. We wanted to create something simple in solid materials that complements both the fireplace and the room’s interior”, explains Broberg & Ridderstråle.

With its simple form and straight lines, the fire tool creates a sense of order around the fireplace as well as adding a beautiful detail in the room.
